冨井大裕個展
『繊維街』
名古屋・長者町と東京・東日本橋の繊維街を結ぶ既製品衣服を使った立体作品。

今回、東京のAANからのお誘いで、名古屋のN-markのスペースにて展覧会を行うことになった。AとかNとかアルファベットの略称が行き交うメールでのお誘いだったが引き受けることにした。このAとNにはお互いの拠点が繊維街の中にあるという共通項があるとのこと。そこで、この繊維をキーワードに二つの場所を作品と展示で繋ごうということらしい。何故、私がそこで誘われたのかについては、聞いてもなかなか答えてくれない。とはいえ、私が既製品を使っていて、服を用いた作品も作っていたからという単純なことではないらしい。この辺の真意はトークまでお預けということか。ともかくも私の方は、服や布の作品を作りたいと思っていたので、渡りに舟ということでお引き受けさせて頂いた。展覧会タイトルは「繊維街」であるが、私が作りたいものは、布であり服であり、それでありながらそれでないなにかである。

＜プロフィール＞
■冨井大裕
1973年新潟県生まれ、東京都在住。既製品に最小限の手を加えることで、それらを固定された意味から解放し、色や形をそなえた造形要素として、「彫刻」のあらたな可能性を模索する。近年の参加展覧会に、「横浜トリエンナーレ2011」（横浜美術館、2011年）、「MOTアニュアル2011」（東京都現代美術館、2011年）、「水と土の芸術祭2012」（万代島旧水揚場、新潟、2012年）、「マンハッタンの太陽」（栃木県立美術館、2013年）など。また、2008年よりアーカススタジオにて、作品が朽ちるまで続く実験的な個展「企画展＝収蔵展」を開催、Twitterにて毎日発表される「今日の彫刻」などと併せ、既存の展示空間や制度を批評的に考察する活動でも注目を集める。
■嘉藤笑子
Art Autonomy Network[AAN]ディレクター/キュレーター。日本橋大伝馬町のクリエイター集合体”Creative Hub131″に拠点を置き、多種多様なアート事業を展開し、国内外のアートネットワークを手掛ける。沖縄、横浜、東京・向島など地域のなかのアートプロジェクトを数多く手掛けている。向島学会理事（2005年～）／神山アーティスト・イン・レジデンス（徳島県神山町）の評価委員（2006年～）継続中。著書・訳書・カタログ執筆など多数。現職は、跡見学園女子大学/武蔵野美術大学兼任講師。http://a-a-n.org/
■石崎尚
1977年、東京都三鷹市生まれ。2002年多摩美術大学大学院美術研究科芸術学専攻修了。世田谷美術館学芸員、目黒区美術館を経て2012年より愛知県美術館学芸員。主な論考に「彫刻の臨界—日本の現代彫刻、70年代以後」、「彫刻の重さ」など。

“Fabric Town”
Three dimensional works by Motohiro Tomii, an artist using ready-made fabric cloths which are purchased in the two different fabric towns between Chojamachi, Nagoya and Nihonbashi Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

″There will be my solo exhibition, which will be held at N-mark, an art space in Nagoya, which I was offered by AAN, Art Autonomy Network in Tokyo. The offer came to me through e-mails in which abbreviations like “A” and “N” were simply going back and forth, and I did not really understand the whole idea of this exhibition. Anyway, I have decided to take up this invitation. I have heard that these “A” and “N” have a common point that both of their bases are located in a district of fiber wholesale dealer, then the idea may be meant to connect these two bases through the exhibition of my works with a keyword “fiber”. I have not yet successfully got an answer from them to my question why I was chosen. It does not seem simply because I have used ready-made articles in my works and made works with clothes. Looks like the real reason has been put on hold until the talk show scheduled during the exhibition.
I wanted to make some works with clothes and cloth, so it was a very good timing to take this opportunity to put that into practice. The exhibition title is “Fabric Town” but what I want to present are clothes, cloth and similar things but not quite the same.″
Motohiro Tomii
■Motohiro Tomii
Born in Niigata in 1973, He is currently living in Tokyo. He adds a minimum touch to the ready-made objects in order to release the object from the fixed definition then explore new possibility of “sculpture” which holds color or shape as a formative element. For him, creating artwork is “a quest for a quality of incomprehensibleness.” He aims to reflect this into his creativeness. Recent major exhibitions include; Manhattan in Pinhole – Thermodynamics of the Sun, Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts (2013), Water and Land – Niigata Art Festival 2012, Bandaijima site, Niigata (2012), MOT Annual 2011, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (2011), Yokohama Triennale 2011, Yokohama Museum of Art (2011). Since 2008, he has been holding this solo exhibition, Special Exhibition = Permanent Collection Exhibition at ARCUS Studio in Ibaraki, in which he carries out the experimental show that is not finished until the work rust away. Along with everyday-updated Today’s sculpture series on his Twitter, he works as a critic to consider the existing exhibition space or system.
■Emiko Kato
Director/Curator of Art Autonomy Network[AAN], currently working on the lecturers of Atomi University, and Musashino Art University. She starts AAN in 2005, and been organizing the variety of art events and building up the network among abroad and domestic art groups and individuals, and archiving the materials for the diversity of art activities at Creative Hub131 in which AAN office is based. She has been making the community based art projects in the different regions; Okinawa, Yokohama, Mukojima in Tokyo, etc. A Member of Association of Mukojima studies (2005-), Member of Evaluation committee for Kamiyama Artists in Residence(2006-).
